In June 2025, APS filed an application with the Arizona Corporation Commission requesting a rate increase of approximately 14% — which, if approved, could add roughly $20 per month to the average residential bill.
Attorney General Mayes intervened to oppose this filing, with her office presenting expert testimony that the increase could be reduced to roughly 3%.
APS raised rates by 8% in 2024 and 8% in 2023. APS customers are already paying $12 more per month than they were the prior year, according to the AG's office.
APS has historically imposed a grid-access charge specifically on rooftop solar customers, which Mayes has publicly called “discriminatory.”
